.... Guinea Pig Vets ......
The best way to find a good guinea pig or cavy vet is word of mouth. Vets experienced
with guinea pigs often get that way by having a local cavy rescue as a client.
Cavy rescues see more than their fair share of sick guinea pigs so they are a
good source of advice regarding local cavy vets.
If searching on the Internet it is worth remembering that vets themselves refer to rabbits, guinea pigs and other small furries as 'exotics'. You will also need to search for "cavy vets" as well as "guinea pig vets" because the search engines can't know that the terms "guinea pig" and "cavy" mean the same thing! Many veterinary surgeries that specialise in rabbits may also work with other 'exotics' such as reptiles, amphibians, birds and fish. Vets that are good with rabbits and rodents will usually be very good with guinea pigs even if they don't see many in the practice. The National Mongolian Gerbil Society has a list of UK vets good with gerbils for example.
The governing body for the veterinary profession in the UK is the RCVS or
Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

If you are a vet, VN or practice manager with a special interest in guinea pigs/cavies or your veterinary practice is experienced in guinea pig veterinary medicine, please consider signing up for a free web page in our free searchable Directory which can link to your site. We are always being asked if we know of a good guinea pig vet in a particular area and one of the main reasons for setting up the Directory was to provide the most comprehensive information possible for the owners of rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and rodents. If you don't have a web site, or simply want one on this site in addition to your existing site, then tick the box on the Membership Application Form when you sign up for your free Directory page.
This web site is part of Galen's Garden's network of sites specialising in information of interest to keepers of rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas. To make this site as interesting as possible, we offer free web sites on this domain. If you are a veterinary surgeon or practice with a special interest or expertise in cavies, you can have your own free web site on this site, www.cavy-vet.co.uk, which you can edit yourself at any time. The advantage of having a site on www.cavy-vet.co.uk is that search engines look for the words people search for in the web site domain name. This index page has also been optimised for search engines looking for cavy vets. Galen's Garden is on Google page 1 and the Cavy Vet site is on page 2 for 'Cavy Vets'.
We also have other specialist veterinary domain names where you could have a free Internet presence including Rabbit Vet, Small Furry Vet, Small Pet Vet, Specialist Vet, Emergency Vet and domains for Holistic and Homoeopathic vets including VetMFHom.
If you are looking for a cavy vet, then please search our Directory.
