Even before your guinea pig gets ill, you’d be wise to identify a good local vet experienced with guinea pigs in case anything goes wrong.

The most common surgery carried out on guinea pigs is dental work for broken, maloccluded or overgrown teeth. Skin complaints such as mites or mycosis are amongst the commonest medical conditions; others include urinary tract problems and bumblefoot.
